On November 22, 2023, the National Health Commission accepted the application for Oat Green Extract to be classified as a new food raw material.
On August 9, 2024, Oat Green Extract was approved by the National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China as a food ingredient.
Review Opinion from NHC: The product under application, Oat Green Extract, is made from the whole plant (aerial parts) of immature oats (Latin name Avena sativa L., belonging to the Poaceae family, genus Avena) using a process that includes extraction with 30% ethanol, concentration, drying, and grinding. The main nutrients include carbohydrates, proteins, and fats. Oat grass has already been managed as a general food, and the main components of this product are similar to those of oat grass, making it suitable for use as a food ingredient. It will be regulated under the same standards as dried vegetables.
